ISLAMABAD: Federal Special Assistant for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan has said that daily corona monitoring will be carried out after the opening of the school. The health department will issue advisory on the opening of educational institutions. Increased testing of teachers and school staff will be beneficial for the safety of students after the opening of schools. According to details, a high-level meeting of the National Command and Operations Center was held on Thursday on a one-point agenda on opening educational institutions after lockdown due to COVID-19 in the country.
The representatives of all educational institutions participated in this meeting. Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Special Assistant for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan, senior civil and military officials and representatives of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan also attended the meeting via video link. The meeting discussed the opening of educational institutions including schools and universities.
Participants were made aware of the risks and challenges after the opening of the educational institution.
NCOC officials said all educational institutions must ensure compliance with Corona SOPs and protocols before making a final decision. Tracing and testing strategies will help prevent the spread. Increased testing of children with symptoms, teachers and school staff will be useful. After the opening of educational institutions, the NCOC and the Ministry of Health will monitor on a daily basis.
Talking to reporters, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that the opening of educational institutions is the main challenge. We want educational institutions to open on September 15, 2020. The final consultation will be held at the inter-provincial education ministers meeting. No final decision can be made on opening a school without the advice of a health adviser. The final decision to open the educational institution will be taken on September 7 after consensus and input from all stakeholders.
The Department of Health will formulate an advisory to open educational institutions to ensure that themasks, social distance and SOPs are implemented to prevent corona. Special Health Assistant Dr. Faisal said that an IT system would be set up to monitor the health guidelines and corona prevention measures.
